Brazilian wins contest Ocean in Focus

Guy Marcovaldi, who works in the Tamar  Project won the photo contest “Ocean in Focus“. The photo shows a diver releasing a turtle from fishing nets. The photo was chosen as the image that best summarizes the threats to the ocean.

Technicians analyze housing orca found dead in southern Santa Catarina

An orca of about seven meters, in advanced state of decomposition, was found on Sunday afternoon (23) in Balneario Rincon, in Içara in southern Santa Catarina. As the animal was found in a remote area, it was not necessary to interdict the area.

On the morning of Monday, the Department of Environment Prefecture Balneario Barra do Sul has sent officials to the scene to examine the animal.

According to the department, experts in biology, University of Joinville, Univille should go to the beach to assess better end to the housing orca.

Diving operator receives a certificate of safety management

The operator of Atlantis Divers Fernando de Noronha (PE), in September received the Certification of Safety Management for Adventure Tourism, as the technical standard ABNT 15331.

This is one of the actions of the Program Safe Adventure Tourism Ministry, Sebrae and  ABETA – Brazilian Association of Adventure Tourism and Ecotourism.

For the owner of the Atlantis Divers, Patrick Muller, certification is a key differentiator for companies. “We believe this gap to better serve our customers and create a qualitative difference. The process was long and laborious process with persistence was that we won the challenge.”
